Default What should I do - (yes, another tire thread)

Here's the situation - I have Michelin Pilot Sport all around on my 19" BBS LM's. The road home from work - all 2 miles of it is all right handers - and they are taken hard - my front left tire as a result is damn near gone, with the front pass. not that far behind. The rears were replaced fairly recently and as a result have plenty of tread.

So here's the dilemma - I can't find the Pilot Sports ANYWHERE in a 245/35/19 - so I can either replace JUST the fronts and go mixed matched, or bite the bullet, buy the Toyo T1-R's and try to sell the Michelins.

What would you do?

Default something doesn't add up

If it's all right handers, wouldn't it be all left handers coming back home???

Seems to me the first thing you should do is adjust your alignment in the front. Sounds like the outsides of your tires are wearing. Probably need more camber if you continue to drive the way you do. / \

I'd say buy the Toyo T1-R's entire set and see how you like them and keep the Michelin's for the rear. But alot depends on how many miles you drive and how long you plan on keep your car.

totally different roads on the way home then on the way there - it's a loop - I have a stop light out of the office, takes me to a straight away where I hit about 60, then dive into a right hander to enter the freeway - then another straight all the way to a hairpin - u-turn - then more straight, a sweeping right, then one quarter of a "clover leaf" then it's a straight drive home - it's a great drive!

The car tracks fine, it's really the outside of the driver's side that's taking most of the beating - the shoulder is scrubbed pretty good, but the tire is wearing evenly across the rest of the surface. Tire pressure seems good too.

Maybe I can take some photos...

I only drive about 150 miles a week - so not that far...I'll be keeping the car for a while.

At first I was going to go to PS2's all around, but for the price, I really can't find a reason not to go with the Toyo's

I would prefer not to run mix-matched rubber.

I wouldn't run mixed max rubber. Just bite the bullet.

Just my $.02

agreed. Do not run mixed-matched rubber. Not a good idea at all with high perf. tires. If the rear have plenty of tread, remove them and sell them. Someone else will be in a similar situation as you (but need rears) and will snatch them up. Pilot sports are becoming harder and harder to find in any size. Get the toyos!
