Default Got in an accident yesterday

I was driving to the gym yesterday afternoon and I had not driven my car in about a week. I had the traction control off and I came around a corner to hard and spun out, plus it was a little wet out. I lost control of the car and ran the driver side up on the median. I blew out both driver side tires and bent both rims in like 3 different places. I also managed to scratch a good portion of the side skirt and a little bit of the front and rear fenders. Most of that damage was underneath the side skirt, so it is not that visible and will just require some paint work. I already ordered a new set of rims and tires last night, so that is the only place that I am really getting hit money wise. I guess the whole thing could have been a lot worse, but it just pisses me off because I am so particular about my car. I will post some pictures in a day or two.

Default Sorry to hear this

You don't need any lectures and I'm truly sorry for your damage, but there is a point here that needs to be made to help some newbies.

This car has A LOT of power, and its potential bad manners are often masked by the electronics "aids" like DSC.

On the street, and in wet conditions, I'm don't think I'd suggest turning that stuff off.

You think traction control would have saved you from this mishap ?

It is your friend. Especially when it's wet out.

Sorry to hear about the crash.

Man, all ethusiasts I know who crashed thier car were messing around. All I can say is look on the bright side, you had some wheel damage, body damage, thats it. It doesnt sound like a major collision where the car will never drive the same.

My friend was screwing around 3 weeks ago, and killed himself. So look on the bright side and be careful next time.

IMHO unless doing a straight drag race or are an experienced driver on a track, we're all better off with DSC left on.

In any case, it's understandable that you could lose control under those conditions and am sorry to hear about your collision. A similar thing happened to me when I had to swerve to avoid another car, only instead of just messing up a couple rims I hit a curb that popped up my front end and made me do a lazy roll which totalled the car! So, in the end, just be thankful you are OK, the car will get fixed, you'll learn a lesson about the benefits of DSC, and will probably be a safer driver from here on out.

I was not trying to do any drifting...I just forgot that I had turned the DSC off...I know enough not to turn in wet conditions with the DSC off.
