Default 2005 ordered M3 CAB's only, delay, CONFIRMED.

So, for anyone out there who ordered a 2005 M3 Cab and had a production for late Sept or Oct, you more then likely are going to be seeing a delay in getting your M3. I was told by my dealer there was an M3 issue however he did not have any details, now I just confirmed with BMWUSA this and spoke to a very nice guy, one of the first willing to actually look into this issue for me, who did some research and called me back today after speaking to his regional manager. He said that all M3 Cab's with Oct production and perhaps late Sept and early Nov as well, have been delayed due to an issue that arose with the Convert top itself. He says they had to due some corrective measures and are set to finish the quality check on go back to normal by next week and all M3's that were delayed will be shipped at the end of next week or the next available shipping date.

So, Sucks to have ordered a vert!!

This is just for anyone who was curious who might be in the same situation.

I can see what my first issue will be, top wont go up when it starts to rain! hehe

you'd think they had worked out all the bugs after this many years in production. hopefully this delay is because they made some sort of engineering change that reduces or eliminates the dreaded squeaking i have read about.

either way, i had a Dec production slot so hopefully mine will not be delayed.

It's a good delay in a sense because you're getting a defective part fixed in the factory, rather than having to go back to the dealer to get it looked at/repaired.

I would so rather BMW have this issue in the factory than recieve my vert only to have these issues. As far as I would be concerned, they could take as much time as they like (within reason) to make sure it has NO issues.

I agree, the more I think of it the better off it is they caught it before releasing to the public, however still bummed on the large delay. Also no wI will always be watching and worried something is going to go wrong!

You can find the schedule for prduction date simply by asking your dealer or calling BMWUSA, at least I did it that way. BMWUSA # is 1-800-831-1117
