i think you are just saying that cuz you already ordered on.

I'm just teasin you dude. I can understand getting rid of the steering wheel controls to clean up the look but why get rid of the systems all together? How much could cruise control possibly weigh?

I don't think it's as much of a weight issue as it is a circuitry one. It could also be possible that BMW is trying to almost discourage an "everyday" - if you will, M3 owner who should not be ordering the competition package as he/she does not need it. I guess it is, as they state, "for the serious enthusiast and club racers."

I have a question about this special aluminium trim for the Competition package. Do I need to specify to my salesman that I want this special aluminium trim or is it standard once I order the competition package. Thanks for the help.

it comes standard with the ZCP package. Actually I'm not even sure if you can get any other trim with ZCP. It might be an option which is pretty much locked into ZCP. Of course, there probably is an "individual" option where you can pay extra to have the trim changed.

Guys-

I'd be interested if anyone is offered an Individual option for the ZCP trim on a non-ZCP M. My dealer told me he got a 'no' from the factory (orrrrr it could just be my dealer's favorite answer ). I guess I'll need to get the parts numbers down the road.

Ummm...writing from San Diego. Planning to order an M3 by end-Dec. Went to local dealer today. They did NOT know anything about the competition package. I brought the press release up on their computers...lots of head-scratching and muttering. Since it is not on bmwusa.com, they seemed to be totally unaware.

Question: Is this really going to be available for cars ordered in and after Dec 2004?? Also...can it be had with a 6sp manual? And, finally, can someone post a picture of the new blue colr that's offered with this pkg??

The dealer said...well, we can put it on your order, and if BMW installs it, that's fine! Not very encouraging.

They're morons. They should've received a dealer bulletin about it on Oct. 18th. Anyway, the ZCP release note is on bmwusa.com. Just go to 'The BMW Experience', then click on BMW Buzz, and then on News & Notes. You'll see the release article on it there.

You can definitely get it with a 6MT. If you search for ZCP or Club Sport on the forums, you'll find a plethora of threads about it, along with pictures of the new package items and the new color.
