The new M5 6spd comes with a illuminated ZHP knob.
Here is p/n: 25112284205 It cost $124.52 through Tischer, have at it guys. edit 11/16/12 Ok, here are pics, the boot is attached to the knob. There is an extra piece extending pass the silver ring. It is also a new knob. It is taller than the normal ZHP knob. Uses the same connector. They staple the boot to the base ring now instead of melting/gluing the boot the base frame. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() New knob illumination compared to the one in my signature which I mod my self. ![]() Quote:
Here are the measurements between the e46 frame and new boot/knob. From corner to corner where the two seams are. E46: 5 1/8 inch ![]() M5: 6 1/2 inch ![]() The circumference of the base frames. E46: 20 1/2 inch ![]() M5: 21 inch ![]() The M5 shift boot will fit on the E46 base frame but may need to be trimmed some because it is 1/2 inch longer. The seams probably will not line up at the corners on the E46 frame. The new M5 knob weighs 1oz more than the zhp knob with shift boot. 7.6 oz ![]() 8.6 oz ![]()

How (well) would that work on the E46 M3?
Knob would just screw on I presume? What about the leather boot as the M6 hole is differently shaped the the E46's? Trimming necessary? Use/adapt another E46 boot? My shift knob is looking a bit worn (leather, separation of plastic on shift pattern) and the light has stopped working for some reason, so I might well be interested in this. |

The knobs are a press fit, just pull up and it pops off. Yes, you will have to cut the E46 boot since it's one piece.
