I find fifth gear quite useful in getting to sixth and seventh-especially with an M-DCT.

Is this question real? WTF.
If I'm above 50mph and just driving, of course I use 5th gear, typically on my way to 6th even, imagine that, it's shocking I know. Why the hell wouldn't you? |

I use 5th when i'm crusing at 40-50. If i'm getting on the highway i normally skip it and go for 6th from 4th. 'course, sometimes i also skip 3rd and 4th on my way to 5th if i'm being aggressive and the speed limit is 40-50... |

It's ok to skip 5th if you're going from 4th to 6th in lazy driving.. just like going from 3rd to 5th and skipping 4th its okay and does not do any damage to your precious m3. However, i do like the 5th gear in my e46 m3.
