I wear all the gear (Helmet, Jacket, Gloves, armored pants and boots) All the time, even when its 105+ in Tucson. Yes its worth the risk for me (and I have five kids still in school!). But its not for everyone...

Yes, there is nothing else like it. You should give it a try. Pick up a used 600cc sport bike and safety gear. Get a good helmet, riding gloves, a jacket, and some riding boots at minimum. Start off in residential areas with little traffic and work your way out of there as you become more comfortable and confidant. There are plenty of tutorials on Youtube too.

Fixed. DO NOT TEACH YOURSELF. This is not the place for trial and error.

Sweet ride! I'd love to own a duck some day.

Akra pipes are nice, precision fit and welds. I wanted the Ti setup but could not justify spending $400 more at the time so I went with the full stainless setup. With the cash I saved I picked up the Gilles rear set.

Always wanted a bike, but after burying two close friends in the past 2 months due to bike accidents, I'll never be able to get on one again...

As far as my M3, I drive it when its nice out and when it's not under the knife... my DD actually handles pretty decently, but its still night and day getting in the M.

Hell, that's terrible. Condolences, bro...

I *never* even considered owning a motorcycle until moving to Madison. In fact, I wouldn't even ride my bicycle on the street when I lived in STL because it was only a matter of time before someone hit you. It's just so much more a part of the culture here (bicycles and motorcycles both) that people are actually watching for you.

'Course, that having been said, I've had two incidents in the last two days on the wife's scooter where someone was changing lanes almost drove right over me. I'm not convinced it wouldn't have happened exactly the same if I were in a car-- b!tches on cell phones -- but regardless, I walk away in a car... On a bike..........

I would never dd a bike. Another toy....sure.

My e36m is my daily work horse at this point. ive put more miles on it in two yrs than a lot of posters have put on 10+ yrs.
Good and bad. I bought it to drive and have spent much time behind the wheel. but at the same time it sucks watching the mileage go from under 60k when i first got it to well north of 90k already

g35's have never felt special to me(no matter what car(s) Ive had at the time)

I've also lost three friends in the last two years on bikes. One to a semi on the highway, two to a car on the highway that had a blowout and swerved into their lane. I will never ride on a bike again. It's just way too scary, and not worth it, IMO. I've considered getting a dirt bike in a year or so, but if my dad ever caught wind that I was riding a bike, he'd drive across the country and burn it. Being an ER doc, he's seen 100 times more bike wrecks than anyone here. Which is why he sold his bike a month after becoming a doctor. To anyone here that rides a bike, Godspeed.

When I was in high school a buddy had a sweet Suzuki (don't recall the model, hell that was 30 years ago) and had some 85 year old woman pull dead out in front of him when doing 65 on a highway. He T-boned her right in the door and ended up about 100+ yards down the road in a ditch. He has been riding a chair and going in a bag ever since. I swore off bikes then and there. There are just too many morons running around with their heads up their asses to take a chance. Good luck to all of you that have the stones to ride one these days.
