I got hit last week and my M3 is a total loss. I came to a stop on a two lane road at a red light (about 10 cars in front of me). I hear some skidding and a 95-99ish Grand Prix (the front end looks likes like a wedge) slammed in the rear of my car. The rear of my car ended up going on top of the Grand Prix and ripped the exhaust and bumper cover off of the M3. I am sure it also did some damage to the under carriage. I was pushed into a new CTS and that is how I got the front end damage.
I have/had full coverage insurance and talked to the claims department today. The guy was very nice and did some research and will write me a check for $8,700. He even coved the child seats in the car because they should not be used after an accident (no kids where in the car at the time). I asked him what I could buy the car back for and he told me $1,095.00. I am going to buy the car back and let her sit in the 3rd stall and see what I would like to do. I think I will be repairing the car myself since most of the damage in all bolt on parts. I have rebuilt two cars in the past and am very mechanically inclined. I will post pics once I get her home.. BTW I have State Farm Insurance Some photos before the hit, ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() With the snow tires on ![]() The Damage ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

OMG, that sux so bad!
If no frame rail damage occurred then you are good as everything will just be bolt on, easy stuff. The spare tire area looks caved in so that might be the worst part. Looks like the fenders missed the impact, and if so that makes it much easier. Good luck fixing her back up. |

Damn man, I'm sorry to see/hear this. Your car is definitely a clean example! However, I personally would move on. I can definitely see where you would want to keep it and fix it up, though. A rebuild process like yours - since everything will be apart all at once - will be a good opportunity to refresh a lot of old parts and add some nice mods. Good luck! I'm sure it will be as good as new when you're done... perhaps even better!

My wife and I were just talking about this scenario. If I had the space, time and infrastructure to buy-back, I would, then find a 318ti shell or E36 Estate and build a wicked M3 step brother.
Good luck with whatever you decide to do. I hate to see another M3 get crunched like this—there seem to have been a lot getting smacked lately. ![]() |
