Anyone ever financed a car this old? I am talking about financing $5-6,000 Max? Reason I ask is I was going to "borrow" money from the home down payment fund to pull the trigger one of these cars, however after thinking about it... I'd rather not tie up too much in the car right now, so I am looking at financing options.

Seems that most will not finance anything older than 7 years. Which I understand, the vehicle is collateral if you default the loan. Bank wants to get its money back, I get that. Any exceptions?

Good luck with that. You may be able to talk them in to it, but that will be a hard sell as you mention. When I purchased the vert in 06 it was right on the edge of what the CU would finance, and I thought 8+ years was good at the time. I have not had need to finance one since but doubt they are much inclined to go further. If you have good credit it would likely be easier to get a personal loan, but interest is always higher with those.

Your best bet will always be a local credit union. They can approve you a loan of around 70% of the cars blue book value (if you have the vin#). I just went through this process about six months ago when I bought my 97 M3, so if you have any questions about this feel free to ask.

Sorry, my mantra is "no debt for toys" which translates to "no debt" possibly excepting a house, and reliable DD.

True Story. I see it as a savings account, because I will most likely part with it prior to buying a home. Then that money can go towards the down payment. Will I get it all back? Of course not.

My DD right now is a Tundra, which is For Sale, because I ordered a company vehicle, which happens to be the same thing with a different package. Once that happens my debt will be $0.00. So I can enjoy a toy for a bit before the house, and shortly there after, the wedding, kids...

Apperciate the input. I will check that out.

You said it. Haha. I just worded it differently. Doesn't help that the neighborhood we are in now has lots of young ones. The fiance always seems to mention how "cute" they are.

Driving down my street after work is like auto x at idle. Cones everywhere, and mom posse stare downs. "If i go any slower I'd be in park." Doesn't help that there is the "neverous" mom, she honestly follows her kid around and has this look of panic on her face all the time.

Anyways, still working on that a 99 E36 Cosmo Black, 136K. Straight body, all the VIN Tags are present and match. Still waiting to get photos of the RSM's and RTAB's. PS Pressure line was just replaced. The guy, a dealer owner, knew a lot about the car, and a lot of the things to look for outlined by most of you. So that is reassuring, however I know its always a gamble.

Thats it.

Anything you see right off the bat that might throw up a red flag?

Can't see anything obvious, but it would help if you could post higher resolution pictures.
