Default BMW: 'The Greatest Car Ever Made' - Hammond...?

Of course, this forum exists to celebrate what many of us consider the best all around model BMW has ever made...but is Hammond right about the brand? Subjectively, objectively, extremely biased or otherwise, I find it hard to justify another manufacturer who puts as much into each aspect of their product as BMW.

"Their cars are not about cutting edge, brand new technology, breaking new ground, pushing things further," Hammond says. "Their cars are about doing what's already known...and doing it extremely well."

It really depends on what you look for in what you want to consider the best company. There is no doubt that the BMW ///M series is great but BMW as a whole maybe not. It is apparent in the new models like the 3 and 1 series that quality did go down a bit in terms of the interior trim and pieces, simple things like the plastic they choose to place in the cabin, performance wise of course they have their own ///M division but then again doesnt almost every company have their own special devision? I am not going to hate on BMW or my very own M but Evo's and STI could hands down destroy any Beemer on the track, no doubt about it, and for a fraction of the price. BMW is not ahead of anybody or behind, they are in the middle where being good at everything is the goal instead of being good at one thing and not another. Let it not be forgotten to that BMW's motto for the past couple years has been Efficient Dynamics....so what does that say about the company? BMW is an amazing company ill give that to them and my favorite company if i had to choose, but the greatest or best? Maybe not

I no see STI or EVO crap box here. Am I missing something?

Man.. this is SAD, the EVO's and sti's kept getting lost on the track, and at the end of the day, look who won! a STI? no.. a M3, and to top it off, An would have beat out STi's/evo's in even higher classes than he was running. Stis/evo's do not "hands down destroy us" infact I got better times than the #2 sti as a novice.
