Default 2006 M5, released end of 2005

Well when I asked the dealer yesterday when I could get a look at the M5 he told me that it would be released on November of 2005.

The September issue of Automobile Magazine says the M5 will be released in the US in the fall of 2005 as a 2006 model.

Don’t look for a manual gearbox in the new M5 as the new SMG III was designed from the get-go to be shifted via the SMG circuitry. The gearbox is designed around a four rod shift system which means that no neighboring gear is on the same shaft, leaving first and second gears at opposite ends of the conventional manual gearbox. This was done in part to make first through third gears very beefy and durable to handle the high loads.

The shift pattern is:

2 6 5 R
4 7 3 1

Neat stuff, I can hardly contain myself!

I'd be very interested in ordering one if I could get a manual and not SMG.

Sorry to be off topic, but Wagner, how do you like the look and ride of your car with the Tein springs?

They are VERY nice. Though the back tires rub a little when hitting a bump fast but that is more of a rim offset issue
