Default Harman Kardon?

Would you folks order the Harman Kardon in your M3? Someone told me that the HK stereo was over-rated. Could someone give me some opinions. This, of course, is compared to the standard equipment.

Thanks.

For most music the HK system sounds pretty good. However, on some music the Bass rattles a little. I noticed this on one of the songs on the BMW Demo CD that came with the car. I still like the system anyway.

Speedi,
If you think HK System in the M3 is not good enough, try the Bose System on the Audi S4. Bose so sucks that the spekers are faking the bass most of the time; if you know what I mean by faking it!

The stereo is ok I guess. Iv always had aftermarket systems in my cars but I'll keep the HK in this one. Doesnt mean its the best but its ok.

OK, thanks for the responses... we have Bose in the ML430, and it's awesome... no "faking" it there, but maybe this is because there is more room in the ML for more stereo stuff?

Anyway, I'll stick with the HK on my order, then. Thanks!

The rattle of the system seems easily fixed, so I'm really not too worried about it. I did see that some folks were having rattles in the door speakers, though... which really is a no-no. I think BMW elected not to put enough sound deadening material in the doors this go-around. Anyone have a clue why? When I closed the doors on the 2002 M3 I test drove, it reminded me of my old Mustang Cobra... kinda weird, but I quickly forgot about it during the test drive!

Speedi, look at it this way, if you want factory nav system, get the hk. If your jus getting cd player then I wouldnt get it and would throw all aftermarket stuff in it. Thats just me tho. I got nav and have to choice but to leave the headunit.

If you go for aftermarket, it may be interesting to know that Alpine stuff can be controlled from the control buttons in the steering wheel.

Cheers,
