Default SMG Issues and SES

I was driving my car yesterday (it was a pretty hot day and I was driving slow in the traffic) and suddenly SMG II indicator light came on and soon after SES light came on as well. So I stop the engine for few hours then started again and this time the SMG indicator light has gone off but SES light remained lit. I was able to pull off the codes which was P1717. Also another thing I noticed was that the cap that extrudes out on top of the SMG reservior lid was loose and came out.

So I took it to one of the BMW certified mechanics this morning and they mentioned SMG program might requires reporamming and such.. When the mechanic hooked up to the computer it read the same code (P1717) and also described as "temperature sensor gas.."

Car runs great no anomalies with shifting it shifts as usual and only issue I have is with the SES is on.

Help me!!! Has anyone experienced this issue and found the solution for it??

Thank you in advance..

ps: Anyone has the part no for the SMG reservior lid??
