1,000 miles and 2 years of searching and I finally have it!!!!!
I just got back from swapping my black interior to M-Texture Alcantara. The interior was in NC and I live in NY/NJ. A road trip was in order if I was going to make a dream come true. I know it sounds tacky, but I have been wanting M-Alcantara for a number of years now and wish my car that I found in 2009 had it, but it didn't. As others have said, the material does not photograph that well and is much darker in person. The subtle M tri-colors underneath look so bad ass in real life, you just have to see it in person. The material is very comfortable and holds you in the seat firmly. My back did not sweat and it was not cold or hot as the outside temperature changed. I went from power heated seats to non-heated manual seats and I am very happy with my decision. When I exit the car, I am always sliding the seat back as to minimize bolster wear and with the manual seats, it is just that much easier. Additionally, I have reduced some weight (probably not much though) and another component that could break in the future. I only had a little bit of time, but I was able to clean some of the leather with some Griot's interior cleaner and some of the shiny-ness of the leather came off. Looks like they haven't been cleaned in awhile, so when I have time, i'll be cleaning these suckers. Stay tuned for a video. I know some people love or hate this interior. If you hate it, well I can respect that everyone has their own tastes and opinions, to each his own. If you love it, terrific! They're unique and some somewhat rare for this car. I wanted this interior for a number of reasons; functionally, they are superior to leather as you dont slide in them. They don't react to ambient temperatures like leather. They are visually appealing, at least to me. They were specially designed for this car by M. And finally, historically all M3's have been offered with some kind of special M-colored interior, I love that my car has two special things going for it; Interlagos Blue and M-Texture Alcantara. Actually the more I look at it, the more I like its different and it's rare and seems very few have it
![]() Great find they look clean but be aware I would put a towel on the bottom part of the seat for the summer your sweat can actually damage the alacantra.. It actually reminds of the the vw glof interior a bit but like you said even either likes it ir hates it. |
