Default Proper PSI for low profile tires?

Hi All,

I just recently joined the M3 forum and wanted to know if any of you have low profile tires on 19'' rims, 235F/285R and what psi are you putting in? When I got the car it had 35 psi and after going to some independent car shop for oil change the flat tire sensor came on. I tried to reset but it would come back on within a few minutes. What didn't make sense was after more psi was put into the tire the sensor for flat tire came on?

Anyone ever had this happen before? Apparently the indy shop put in 42 psi on all 4 tires, anyone have any recommendation for low profile tires with the above dimension and recommended psi that's in median range?

Thanks!

I run around 38psi

open your manual and read how to reset the tire pressure warning (I forget how atm.) The e46 M does not use sensors in the tire, it uses wheel speed sensors.

42psi cold? I go with 36psi cold but if you're within 34-38 you'll be good IMO...

I have the stock 19" rims 295 in the back I put 42psi it goes away then comes back after like 20 min of driving so I gave up on it. I really do not care about any lights in my car accept the check engine light.

35-36 square, cold. 42 cold is a sign that someone doesn't know what they are doing - assuming you aren't hauling 3-4 passengers all the time.

If you have a TPS warning - you have inconsistent same-axle pressures. Check them.

IIRC rubber valve stems=sensor in tire and metal valve stems=wheel speed sensors.
I run 35F and 36R.

i guess im the only running more psi in the fronts than the rears- 37f/35r cold for street use - i feel the more psi in the fronts helps acceleration, since the car is pushing rather than pulling (RWD)- so I take off from the inertia of the front tires

No e46 M3 has in tire pressure sensors.

Also never heard that is true on other cars.
