First of all, thank you zerotosixty for the DYI. It is really helpful. I just got my console & bracket in today. And thank you Joe for the excellent packaging - I couldn't damage the console even if I wanted to.

I notice that the console came with two templates for trimming a small portion of the rear of the console (one for coupe & one for vert). But from your pic, it seems that you didn't have to trim the console at all. Is this true? Do I need to trim the console?

Here is something most don't do. But should! Wish I had taken pictures of when I did it.

The rear sliding tray (Facing the rear seats) has a little LED light that lights it up. You can remove it from that area and drill a small hole in the back of your new euro tray. Insert the LED into that hole and you now have some nice usable ambient lighting in your euro tray!

Replied to your PM. In this exact application, you do not use the templates.

I'm just waiting on my parts to do this, the roller cover and braket are on back order from Germany.

OP Nice DIY! If I had kept my M3, this was definitely on my list of things to do. I always found the OE armrest to be too tall, and flipped it up most of the time anyway. I never got around to it not because of parts cost, it's not that much actually, just uncertainty about keeping the car. It's just great to see that someone took the time to make a DIY of it.

Guess I don't so much have the problem of the armrest being too high any more, now do I.... Great job
