Give Barry at Performance Oil Store (www.PerformanceOilStore.com) a shout. He'll help you out with Motul, Total or Elf.

Yeah it is easier to find and significantly cheaper, but I'm happily willing to spend the extra for Motul RBF. For an extra $30-40 a year, you get a significantly better and safer fluid. When you're stopping from 120mph+ on track, lap after lap, it is worth it to spend a bit extra on brakes IMHO.

In addition, I noticed an increase in overall pedal feel and modulation, even during street usage, which for me would be worth it alone.

Back OT, I ordered some from this off the wall dirt bike and ATV store. It's going to cost me a bit more but I figured I'd help out the local store, and even though I had to order it in, it was the quickest shipping.

The cheapest place I found online for the total price (inc. shipping) is here.

I got mine from this place a couple of weeks ago at $14 per bottle. Looking at the website now it currently shows they are out of stock, but you can call and ask.

I'm not sure. I've heard that the OEM fluid is just rebadged ATE, so if that is true, then yes. (and the BMW fluid is eerily the same price as ATE/volume..)

But that's beside the point, as when giving my opinion I simply stated that it's worthwhile for me to spend the extra $30 a year to use Motul over ATE or OEM, especially given my intended purposes for my car.. I'm definitely not the only one on this forum who thinks likewise.

I see zero negatives for running Motul. The only downside would be that you should bleed and flush it slightly more often that OEM or ATE, but since I have to do that more often due to tracking and autox, it is a null point.

Oh, and this FWIW:

Boiling Points (Dry Wet)
ATE Super Blue Racing 536 392
ATE TYP 200 536 392
Motul Racing 600 585 421

fair points

you could consider Castrol as well

implying that Motul is safer than ATE just may be a stretch

I understand where you're coming from too. We're each happy with our respective fluids and we'll leave it at that.

And yeah Castrol SRF is definitely the best, but I can't quite justify that price point, giving that the benefits of SRF would probably not be utilized in my case. I think with the SRF, it's past the point of diminishing returns.

ATE makes 5 different brake fluids.

The other issue with SRF as I see it, you really don't get anything for the price. Motul (and I am sure ATE) last at least 6 months, and most organizers I have experienced require you to flush every 6 months. Using SRF, you just flushed out some really expensive fluid for no real benefit.
