So here is the evolution of the project from january 2010:

Looks like a thief recovery car!

I installed a Vorsteiner carbon fiber hood

Also put a CSL carbon fiber trunk

Install Bimmerworld carbon fiber brake ducts and some CSL front splitters replica

I removed the sunroof and installed the carbon fiber sunroof from Ebay, fitment is not perfect but will live with that

Install a Kirk 4 point roll bar

Here is the Jaffster delrin shift knob

Also removed the sound deadning

02/15/2010
Playing with the wiring harness...

Nice project, why not weld in the cage since you already have the car apart?

Great project, I love seeing e46 M's go from daily to full track. A road that I will hopefully be going down soon.

One question I have though is how are you gonna mount the wing? Everyone I have spoke to says that the V CSL carbon fiber trunk is to thin to mount any wing to.

I was supposed to do a full cage but time is missing. I taught i would have all winter long to prepare the car at the shop, finally i work at home till march...

Anyway, i will go with the roll cage next winter, it will be a nice project for 2011, and the shop might double size during the summer. So i will have some space to work

The carbon fiber skin on the top of the trunk is so thin you can barely see throught... No way a wing would stay fix to it at 100mph.

I will make custom bracket to mount it similar to that car, i will have to remove the wing to open the trunk.
