Default How much is paint repair for road rashed front end?

I have like half a dozen small chips and a totally rashed front bumper from five years of daily use.

My mirrors have small stone rashes and I have swirls from improper washing/drying.

Has anyone 'refurbished' their ride? any idea how much good paint shops charge for this? Never even got a quote before to know what is reasonable.

Thanks!

I took a vocational course and eventually went ahead and gained a degree in Collision Repair and I can tell you that for front bumper/mirrors probably for a brand new coat and clearing from a good shop around 1500. Double or triple later clear coat would be great

Take the bumper/mirrors off yourself to save some labor. Then you will be looking at whatever the shops labor rate is per hr for prep/paint, plus a small material fee. This will vary depending on where you go. I'm guessing 5 hrs of labor. I would think you could get someone to do it all for less than $1000 if you take off the parts, and put them back on yourself. Not hard to do. With the chips they will have to sand and prime the front bumper (before paint). Once painted they will have to wetsand everything to get a nice finish. Could be as much as 7 hrs labor to do a quality job. Remember though, once it's repainted it will chip a lot easier than the factory paint job. You may want to get the chips professionally repaired. Then have a detailer polish the mirrors.

Dude.. no. 1500 for a bumper and mirror covers..? Thats crazy expensive.

If you removed your front bumper and prepped it yourself you could get it done for really cheap, besides that figure 300-500 dollars for a paint job.

I spoke with Rennspec yesterday about a V-CSL bumper and inquired about painting it.. they outsource their painting to a company that works on Lambo's, Ferrari's, Maser's, etc.. their quote is 500 and they need something to color match to from your car. That priced includes all prep.

Why not give Dr. Colorchip a chance first? It may end up being "good enough".

Just my opinion based on the work that was performed at the shop that I OJT'd at.

Cheers

I paid two hundred bucks to have my front bumper resprayed and the hood polished (still a few deep chips left but overall great) -- my advice is to "find a guy." Luckily I live in Miami and everyone's "got a guy."
