Well, if it were already filled just through the left then the people who have also filled the right side wouldn't be able to.

They probably only require one side filled as that halves the amount of epoxy used and we know the front left side is the one that typically fails.

If you want to make it bulletproof it's probably a good idea to do it to both sides + TMS kit epoxied on

Weird, because the p/n on the cartridge (83190007361) is the 400ml one.... And:

However, the gun model 3EPT4 is really 200ml one; 3EPT5 is 400ml. Probably, a typo, but seems to me this is the legit DIY.

Okay...so slightly off the current topic, but still relevant to the thread:

Where exactly do these subframe reinforcements go? I guess, more specifically, where are the pictures in Post #1 taken from? Is that under the car? Under the back seat? I jacked up my car & crawled under & couldn't find anything that looked remotely like the pictures of the "subframe sanded down". Do I have to remove a bunch of stuff to have that clear of access to it?

...and bottom line: Where does a guy look to inspect for these infamous cracks?

that's because you first have to remove the whole rear subframe.

You can only see the cracks without dismounting everything if they're huge.

you don't have to remove it per se. you can however drop it a little to examine the area hidden by the bushings.

there are more often cracks around the sheet metal of the mounting block then there are directly underneath. so you can often see cracks or fractures that have started without having to drop the subframe.
but yes, to be thorough it's best to examine underneath the bushing.

I did the epoxy/foam repair method about 10 months ago. Used the TMS reinforcements, ScotchWeld DP-420 epoxy and BMW OEM structural foam (driver's side only so far).
Prep time is extensive due to dropping the rear subframe (and I replaced all bushings while it was out), welding the one tiny crack I found and cleaning/prepping the surfaces. Installing the reinforcements with the epoxy was easy. I sprayed the reinforcements and entire area with primer and then painted for rust protection. Adding the structural foam was even easier (make sure the tube is hot and it literally took 2 minutes).
I have 5 track days on the car since and I just partially dropped the subframe for a visual inspection. No issues found. Note my car is supercharged so there are added stresses.
This may give folks some peace of mind with this reinforcement method.

Thanks for the info.

Did you put a single 420mL tube into the drivers side?

Did you need any special tool for the bushing replacement?

Thanks

I used two of the twin-tube cartridges using a tool I purchased from Grainger.
All bushings except the actual subframe bushings I replaced in my garage. Had to take the subframe and new bushings to a machine shop to have them replaced. Broke my cheap Harbor Freight press trying to replace them....
