Default stubborn rear view mirror

Ok. Did numerous searches. Tried all these suggestions: http://www.m3forum.net/m3forum/showt...ar+view+mirror

Most are saying, remove the plastic cover. Done. The thread then states "twist the mirror counter clockwise, then disconnect the electrical" When I twist the mirror (rectangular with rain sensor) it hits the roof and no further twisting can happen. Tried pulling slightly hard at this proint and I'm afraid I'm going to rip the mirror mount off the glass. What in the idiot heck am I doing wrong?

The plastic housing snaps together. It is a little tricky to remove for the first time, but all you have to do is try to separate the two halves. Start at the bottom of the mirror and push in (towards top of the car) on the center where the two halves meet, while at the same time pulling the two halves apart (toward the left and right side of the car).

With the pastic off, now you just have to twist the mounting arm (not the mirror itself) counter-clockwise (although either direction should work, twist about 75 to 90 degrees) and the mirror will come off. Keep in mind, this was my procedure for the oval mirror--not sure if the mounts are different for the square mirrors.

There is a service bulletin around somewhere that says not to twist the mirror. After removing the cover, press on the mirror so it snaps off the mount. Insert and twist to reinstall only. I'll try to find the document.

Edit - here it is: http://www.bigpatsfans.com/mirror/pi..._%2016_060.pdf

Get yourself an 8 year old child and he/she should be able to get it right off. It's like a child-proof cap on a pill bottle.

Don't know what to tell you otherwise. Mine came right off with just a twist.

I finally figured it out. One has to twist the MOUNT not the mirror. I figured the mount post was glued in place. It came right off (mirror + mount) after I finnally understood!
