Great update! Definitely one of the most reassuring things to get done to this car.

You guys are lucky over there on the west coast. Everything looks so clean under your car!

Agreed. It's such a relief to finally be able to forget about the subframe. Now I only have to worry about the VANOS bolts backing out, exhaust hub tabs shearing off, and my SMG committing suicide.

It is nice, but I would definitely trade you guys for the better gas and more lenient smog regulations. California sucks

JUNE 28, 2012: NEW PAINTED REFLECTOR, OIL CHANGE, NEW BMC AIR FILTER, CLEANED MAF

Changed out the passenger side reflector since the paint was peeling off. Of course, in the process I dropped the new one on the ground so it's sort of scrapped up now too

All done at 73,608 miles

Old:

New:

I also did an oil change, threw in a new air filter, and cleaned the MAF as part of inspection 1. Here's my current box of maintenance stuff I'm working through:

Shot of the car during the oil change

New filter (top) vs old (bottom). I was too lazy to clean the old one since I didn't want to mess with the possibility of over oiling it and all that.

Haha...gotta love these cars.

I hear that California will be coming solely OBDII Readiness for Emissions in the near future. Hopefully that's true!

^That is the rumor. No more sniff test, just the proper amount of readiness codes.

That will probably make quite a few lives easier.

Great job on the subframe reinforcement as well.

JULY 2, 2012: NEW WIPER BLADE INSERTS

Nothing exciting, but I wanted to log when I put them in and at what mileage (73,830 miles).

The inserts were super easy to install, but I did run into one snag. The overhanging metal that you have to cut is extremely hard to cut (at least with the crappy tools I was using). A trick I figured out was just to wiggle the metal back and forth while trying to cut it and it usually breaks free with MUCH less effort. Also, anyone attempting these, there is no need to take the whole blade off. It's really not that difficult or involved, I have no clue why some DIY's mention that.
