Knock-knock! Anyone home?

I'm about to pick up an '01 M-Coupe. Noticed there is almost no activity here.. It will be my second one. Had a '99 new when BMW couldn't give them away. Was helping a friend buy one, and he had me test drive the one he found, I remembered just how much pure fun that car was... so.. something to keep as a toy. The M3 is the daily-driver when I'm not riding the bike.

Any recommendations for good websites would be appreciated. Found the forum on bimmerforums..

I was in the same situation last week. Www.Z4-forum.com. Www.Z3-post.com was another I think I found. Both are very active.

I think your 2nd link was meant to be www.zpost.com, and that's more Z4 oriented than Z3. Bimmerfest and Bimmerforums are still quite active in regards to the Z3, especially the latter.

i have always loved the M coupes but for no good reason i did not look at any when i was shopping around for cars this fall. i picked up an e46 M3 and as much as i love the car the maintenance has really put a gaping hole in my law student-poor wallet.

For those of you that have had the older M coupes how are they with maintenance costs and typical problems?

My guess would that they are easier and cheaper to maintain simply because they have less to go wrong with them.

maintence is about the same... Still prone to vanos failure, water pump failure, fan failure, rear subframe etc... Etc...

zpost is pretty good. In general I've found there is not the same action on any Z forums, as there is on the M3forum.

The primary Z4 forum was Z4um - pretty much everybody was there. Unfortunately, the founder of that forum sold the car and it became less of a priority; when some family issues arose, he simply killed it. Zpost, Z4-forum, Zed-cars.eu, and a host of other forums tried to fill the void but mostly just split the Z4 community into smaller, cliquish groups.
