Why Doesn't My Passenger Side Mirror Tilt in Reverse Anymore?

it always tilted in reverse when the mirror switch was in the drivers position and the car was in R

now, nothing -- have no idea why the tilt function became inactive

i searched, but only found threads about adjusting the tilt feature -- i just want it to tilt the way it did before

Shouldn't the switch be in the passenger position for it to work? If reprogramming at the dealer doesn't work you may have a bum window motor.

nope, it works in the drivers position
as for the motor, cant be bad since it works (just not the auto tilt function)

hmmm my passenger's side mirror vibrates as it tilts down. Miami M3, did yours do the same before it crapped out?

if your in the south FL. area, and ur car is still under warranty, why don't u try taking it to South Motors BMW?

not under warranty - and the mirror motor WORKS -- just not the auto tilt function

Are you using a different key than before? Maybe the memory settings in the key are different...?

I think it only works when in the drivers position. mine won't auto tilt in the passenger's position either. i'm assuming since it's only the passenger side tilting, when in the passenger position, it thinks you want to adjust, so it won't auto-tilt. personally, i don't know why there isn't a neutral position, because when i rest my knee on my door handle, sometimes, it get's in the way.

Does your backup lights work ? May be the reverse switch in the trans.

and just so i am clear, because based upon some responses, i must not have been clear

1) my passenger side mirror motor works - i can still adjust the mirror manually

2) i have the mirror switch set to the drivers side

3) when i put the car in reverse, the passenger side mirror does NOT tilt

4) i've had the car nearly 3 years and the passenger side mirror ALWAYS use to tilt

-- i am trying to figure out why the passenger side mirror no longer tilts when i put it in reverse
