I watched the daytona race too and no m coupe.... bummer! I had the chance to see the car run at Mosport and NJ Motorsports Park. Both time it finished in the top three!

Thanks guys for the continued interest. You all should go to
www.motorsporttechnologygroup.com
and go to the photos section, look for the Virginia #18 crash.

After seeing this, you will know why the 18 is now a 997.

The support of the Morris Animal Foundation that the M-Coupe was proudly carrying has been taken over by the 997, and because we still have a lot of swag that carries the #18, we had to continue that number on the other car.

I had a look at those pics of the crash... simply amazing. I had the pleasure of seeing you race both at Mosport and at NJ. The car looked incredible on the track... any chance you might build another? I am really interested in the different mods you did you the car to get it to perform so well out of the box like that against m3's that have been developed for years. I love tracking mine and really feel it is a special car

Surprisingly enough, that little car didn't take any extreme changes to be that competitive, to my understanding. Engine was blue printed, it ran with the Bosch ignition (at the cost of having to carry extra weight), front brakes were actually down sized because of the sanctioned 17" rim size that everybody has to run, it ran coil overs with sanctioned Koni shocks, 4.10 rear end gear, stock trans, major weight reduction, custom chassis setup, other fine tuning tweaks. As you can see though, nothing too crazy drastic.
