I've got my flame suit on, so I'll throw it out there.

When do you get to the point where there's too much horsepower for a road car? After a while, all of that power has got to get unmanageable for day to day driving (although I think Lingerfelter has done some amazing things with very streetable, high HP Corvettes).

Seems like 5 hundred and change is the current benchmark for HP in a 'production' car.

Looking at the engine block pics....the whole block is aluminum & its a very strong looking closed deck design......take out the 12.0 CR pistons and drop in some custom pistons around 10.0....add a couple turbos and the sky's the limit....600-800-1000hp.....

But I would still go for the 4.5L bored-stroker....

I would prefer....

418,000 Ft/lbs of thrust...

In reality, I would have preferred to see an inline six with some FI attached as oppposed to a V8 / V10 configuration.

i think i would agree...maybe a more tuned version of the 335, but with, u guessed it, 3.2 liters, twin turbos and again an 8000 rpm redline, 400 hp and 400 lb/ft tq would have been great.

That being said, let's say you got an E9x for $65k, + $35K is $100k. When all is said and done you have a power to weight ratio of about 6.7 lbs per hp, which is definitely supercar territory. I'd pay the price of admission for that!

Although the GT-R will still be faster.

The GTR has a power to weight of 8.2......and with markups is close to $100k.... The new ZR1 will have a power to weight around 5.4 & the 600hp Viper is about 5.6 vs 6.3 for the Z06..... The E92 M3 is 8.8.... So a 445hp M3 will match the power-weight of the GTR....

Now for the $35k price of the Dinan 4.5L motor (estimated)....you could easily get a custom twin turbo setup...... 750+hp easy with good street manners when tuned to lower boost.....silly when cranked up on race gas.... That puts the M3 down in the 4's..just like the Veyron...

Bottom line if you want to go fast...it all costs $$$ somebody will always be faster, since they spent more $$$ than you....

I do think anything much beyond about 400whp in a street vehicle is getting silly......

I like. However I prefer this. 1,500,000 lbs of thrust.

I was joking about the GT-R. That being said, if I wanted FI I would go with FI. I am into high revving NA setups, and if I could get (mod) a car that could hang with 430, while still providing the comfort and utility of a sedan, at a price of roughly 40% of what a new 430 costs, I would be all over it.
