Default Why does dash beep when exterior temp = 37 degrees?

Whenever the outside temp sensor registers 37 degrees, the 37 flashes on the dash and makes a beep. What is that all about? And yes, I ran a forum search but found no answer.

It's to warn you to look out for ice. I think it also turns your heated mirrors on.

Aha, thanks. I thought maybe it had something to do with cold weather package since my car originally arrived through Jersey docks. Though I have the window sticker and it says nothing about cold weather package on the features list.

Yeah it beeps for the low ambient temp but says nothing if you oil pressure is low and your motor is going to blow up....go figure.

Yes - the heated mirrors are on all the time. Dunno why - but since BMW has been doing that forever it doesn't seem to cause problems.
