hi
which bmw would u recommend: 97 528i with 5 speed manual 95-98 M3 (which year?) 5 speed manual 95 740i auto 97 540i auto most important considerarions ara RELIABILITY and FUN. also funny question how come some M3s have two door have ARM rest? can u have manual seats and armrest. why some bmw have no rear headrest? how many pounds does luxury package adds? if airbag light stays on as well as check engine does it mean it has been crashed? cause someone told me u can reset the computer only u can do it for check engine light. wut should i look for when buying m3? any strange noise i might overlook? thanks guys for all ur help. |

Well I can only tell ya a bout the M series. If you post this on the M forum, most likely we will recommand you to buy the M3. Not just because it has overall best performance as well as fun factor. Indeed, the M3 will probably the best bet for fun factor. The superb handling is only a glimps of its many superb qualities. Reliability, all BWM has its pros and cons, you might encounter some electic gremlins and what not, but the engine is bullet proof, a well maintained engine should last you well over 150K miles.
Ok back to the M3, yes some models have armrest, some without headrest etc etc. I believe the 96+ models come with rear headrest. I have a 98 M3/4, has armrest, manual seats, and rear headrest ( not that it matters) in fact they block part of the visibility in my rear view mirror) Anyway, 95 models has 3.0 L engine and OBD I. it puts out the same HP as the 96+ OBDII 3.2 L. However, a stock 96+ should have a better low end torque due to the 3.2 L. As far as exterior differences, the sedans were only offered between 97-98 models (US spec). if you are not looking into major mods, look into a newer OBDII 96+ models, as they are more refined and few improvements over the previous siblings. 95 has better gain with mods since it has OBD I. Anyway, rule of thumb, less miledge = more reliable. Therefore I would go with a latest year 96+ models. You wont be disappointed with the investment. Hope this helps |
