I cant beleive they put that bullgarbage 7:15 lap time on there for the GT-R. That is ludacris, that time was given by a magazine that tried to time 4 different GT-R's going around at once, and they put it on the "official" list. Not to mention the car did not have any extra stuff on it (see 3rd paragraph) so it wasnt any special edition GT-R, and they "allegedly" werent even running R comps.

There is nothing that resembles a street car going that fast, the Carerra GT was on sport cups with Walter Rohrl driving it, and yet a street car, with less power, worse tires and probably heavier goes 13 seconds faster, that makes me mad every time I see it.

By the way the cars that HAVE actually done that time are full race cars, gutted , <3k lbs, full slicks , sequential trannies, mega down force, crazy camber adjustments

This "ring" stuff is getting out of hand. You cant trust anyone these days, the Z06 boys tried to say the Z06 did it from a standing start, that's almost as bad. The "ring" has become a marketing ploy, because if they can run over here and tell everyone they ran a 7 or 8:xx.xx then the fanboys come a runnin. And the mag racers can live happily ever after.

I agree some of these times are hard to believe....so we must take them with a grain of salt....

No need to be upset though.......its just a few times......these times dont determine the fate of the car...unless the GT-R laps over 8:00 mins.......HA...that would kill its reputation.

I highly doubt the GTR can post a 7:15 lap time.............No...not doubt........IT WONT!!

P.S....I am not sure they have an official list......most of the list is just compiled from different sources.

It only upsets me that people actually beleive it and quote it like it's true, and that someone would actually publish that somewhere without anything confirmed. You're absolutely right though, ring times are to be taken with a grain of salt. I'll be keeping up with ST in SCCA this year to see who wins it, that is the best determining factor of who's best IMO, since its so hard to get quantifiable evidence to prove anything.

On a positive note that GT2 time is crazy.

ONLY the Sport Auto times are credible comparisons with the same professional driver and the least variables.

And even those are flawed by different day, track, weather conditions, so they are likely far off too, and when you are comparing almost 13 miles it doesnt take much to screw things up by a long shot.

true, i agree with you that the GTR won't lap it in 7:15, but i'll tell you what it WILL do... it WILL have faster lap time than the E92 M3.

Much faster.

But of course they will come back with the E92 CSL which no one here has the specs to, and will not be out for 2 years or so, will lap faster than everything theory.
