Default Hey all

I just joined the forum as well as just picking up my new M3 this last Fri Aug 24. Hello to everyone with hopes I get great tips from you guys.

Mine is a Titanium/Black Coupe that I got without being on a list. I searched for a month and finally got one from Momentum BMW here in town. Got it with 4 miles and now have 104 on it and loving every passing mile. Truly my greatest purchase to date.

Anyone have any suggestions for "must have" accessories? I plan on getting clear corners (white instead of orange) on the front bumper as well as tinting the windows due to this Texas heat. Anything else I should do?

Thanks ahead

Default Hey all

Congrats on your purchase! Very lucky that you found one with such low miles and nice color! Did you have to pay a premium?

You will love it! I haven't done any accessorizing on mine. About the only thing I am thinking of is extension of the comprehensive coverage to 50k miles. O yea, I did get the M3 License Plate bracket.

Welcome and happy motoring!

Default Hey all

There seems to be quite a few available here in the Houston if you are willing to pay a premium. I had wanted a convertible but the premium was too high. When my car became available due to a wait list customer not wanting it, salesperson called me with a modest markup ($6000) for a car that I would have exactly spected myself. Call me lucky!

Anyway they still have two convertibles available but marked up. I am happy with my coupe even though it could have bought me a convertible at MSRP. Local markup here is between $6k and $10k for the three dealerships in town.

I like your red interior, was considering titanium/red convertible. Opted for a little lower key.

Default Hey all

In the SF bay area, most dealers were asking anywhere from $15K to $22K over MSRP for the convertible. I just happened to be at Allison BMW when a laguna seca blue M3C was being PDI'ed. The salesperson said the guy who ordered it couldn't swing it. They were asking +$10K. I got them down to +$6K, and drove it home. Considering the area, I think I got a pretty good deal. I've had it almost a month - what a fantastic car! I can't wait to break it in to see what it does above 5500RPM! 500 miles to go...

Default Hey all

Congrats on your purchase! The M3C has to be the best convertible out there. Speed, handling, looks, and room!

$6k premium on a M3C isnt that bad I guess...I have heard people paying as much as $10k premium for them. It's nice to walk into a dealership and walk out with one of these babies!

500 more miles and you've had a month! Better get on the road! The power above 5500 rpm is addictive and will ruin you for other "slower" cars. The power is very deceptive until you look down at the speedo and realize you're going about 15 mph above what you thought you were doing!

Btw, dont forget to ask about the switch to 10w60 from 5w30 oil when you do the 1200 mile service! I have read memos on it but my service advisor told me it wasn't a formal bulletin yet so I decided to wait for the official word.

Also, is anyone here going to the Z3 homecoming? I also have a 2000 Z3 and am considering maybe going to it if spots are still available.

Happy motoring!

Default Hey all

Hey Frank,

Why the change in oil weight? Any url I can read about it? So far I'm at 130 miles........man have i got a long way to go. I can tell the engine is just waiting to be opened up!

Anyway, I went to the dealership today to try to get those clear (white) reflectors for the bumper instead of orange and they told me it was aftermarket. Anyone know a place where I can get them or order them?

Just change the color of the bulbs... They are clear.
...and the Oil Weight has to do with the high strung nature of the engine...
