Default Sunroof switch, reading lights died on me

I recently picked up an auto dimming mirror and wanted to install it in my 1998 M3 Sedan. I have been doing my best to follow the instructions here:

http://www.m3forum.net/m3forum/showthread.php?t=256958

Unfortunately, the harness that was provided to me did not have the same wiring colors as the kit referenced in the post. This led me to have to use some trial and error to confirm the correct wiring setup with what I had. I cut away a bit of the sheath from the brown wire (ground) and the violet/white wire to expose the copper. From there, I was able to temporarily attach the wires from my mirror and confirm the mirror was working with the ignition in the ON position (I could see the orange led on the mirror lighting up when I pressed a Homelink button).

The weird part is that this only worked for me for a minute or two, then nothing. After that, not only does the mirror not work, but the sunroof switch and reading lights no longer work either (the center map light still works though). I checked all the fuses and they all seem to be fine.

It's late and I'm frustrated, does anyone have any ideas? I'm not sure how clear I'm being on what happened, so I made a short video to help illustrate:

Thanks!

I've never seen a mirror like that in an E36, mine is auto-dipping (dimming?) but doesn't have the buttons or the clown nose.

Anyway, your symptoms sound suspiciously like a fuse, even though you've looked at those...

Do you get any volts or current at the light sockets? If not, what about the fuse socket?

Is the same fuse used for front and rear reading lights? If so then replace the fuse, even if it looks good and try again.

I agree, definitely seems like a fuse thing. I'll try changing a couple that may be related and see what happens.

Quick update: I'm a moron. Fuse was indeed blown. All is well, carry on...
