Default Re: DIY: E36 Cluster Dark Spot Fix - Revised - No Glue Method - More Vibrant than Bef

Just asking, if there are new hints/tricks meanwhile to make it easier, probably have to do my cluster this year. still very small darker spots, but for sure they will 'grow' over time.

Stop if your gauge overlay starts ripping apart. Maybe preheat with a hair dryer before peeling it up.

Some people have overlays that just won’t sit flat after. My original method using repositionable (repositionable is key here) photo spray glue on the backside of the overlay will be needed.

What was your method? Spray both the cluster and the material? Join, position correctly and then add some weight? I am worried about the glue bleeding through the face and maybe sticking to whatever I try to weigh it down with

Using the write-up, I recently performed this fix. It was not hard. Put on a movie and by the time the movie was done, I was done with the fix. It's not too hard an kinda hard to mess up.

I did "disturb" my bulbs to my odometer, which I need to replace. No biggie.

Good luck!

One source for the gauge cluster M logo can be found here: https://www.pukardesigns.com/product...ge-for-cluster

No affiliation, and I can't speak of the quality.
