Default What model years starter replacement are compatible with 1998 BMW M3?

So I went to my local shop and they said the starter needed to be replaced on my 98 BMW M3 with 3.2L engine. They quoted 2.5 hours of labor.
What model years starter replacement are compatible with 1998? I know next to nothing about this,so any insight or reccomendations would be great.
These were I'm looking to order from:
Buyautoparts
DB Electrical
Hexautoparts
I'm probably going to go with a Hexautoparts starter replacement because of price.

Check the part number on realoem.com, most if not all pretty much are the same. Also depends if your starter bolts are threaded or not. My M42 4 cylinder non threaded starter is the same as my m50 starter. Not sure if s50\s52 like yours are different, I wouldn't see why they would be any different.

LOL!!! Of course his starter bolts are threaded.
What can be different is the thread or non-thread in the starter lugs. In that case use the bolt and add a washer/nut.
My preference is for a starter with the threaded lugs. Less of a pain to install the starter.

Early production M/S5X came with non-threaded lugs. A lot of these starters in the reman system are non-threaded.

And as stated pull a starter part number from late production E36 six cylinders from www.realoem.com. E36 is in the “classic” portion of the catalog.

I put a cheap Chinese starter in my 99M3 years ago. It worked for a few weeks. Hope they have gotten better. I did the work myself so I just lost time, not shop labor. I’d buy a quality rebuild. I don’t think they cost much but have not checked. I bought a Bosch rebuild for my 08M3 recently on Carid and it was not much over $100 plus core and they sent the shipping label to return the core.

This is what I dropped into my 98

Bosch starter- $165

I see the same Bosch model on Amazon for $20 less. I got mine from FCP.
