Ha. The body colored mesh looks so aftermarket that I always assumed it was a spray paint mod people did

The track day previously mentioned highlighted also the need for some good alignment, so a few months later (I am busy and only use the car every now and then) I went for a change of Rear Trailing Arm Silentblocs (there were still original), in order to make a proper alignment of the drivetrain.

And a Japanese surprise happened!

I had never met the light in the right before, this is only for Japan : a temperature sensor on the catalytic converter... I don't know if this exists in the USA but it does definitely not in Europe so I scratched my head for some time tu understand what it was, before finally checking in the owner's manual.

So I asked my mechanics to check and well, wires were just cut. The guy who put the cat back did a poor job...

I was definitely time to change the rear SB too:

And alignment done!
Camber FR -2.5 RR -2.0
Toe FR 0.00 RR in 0.08

Finally we changed the brake pads, to the same Endless variant that we are using in our race car for Endurance races. They are made-to-order racing compound, and it totally transformed the brakes feeling and gives much much more confidence! And it does not compromise streetability too much because they brake reasonably well even cold. The only trade-off is noise...
Car then felt totally different and awesome, however the good alignment highlighted the fact that the steering rack was definitely worn out as there was a very perceptible play in the steering.

I always thought that light meant your hotdog is ready.

After the new alignment and pads I went for a try in Sodegaura circuit, while training with our 318is race car.

... And basically warped the front rotors within a couple of laps...

I was still running on road tires, and did not look for any limits at all but I basically stopped quickly because of the vibration coming from the brakes. Unfortunately my old stock rotors did not like being attacked by so aggressive pads.
Apart from that, the car felt really well balanced and easy going, a real pleasure to drive it a bit harder than usual on the track!

So I quickly went back to my mechanic with a few parts:
M3 3.2L Rotors on Aluminium hubs:

New brake position sensor to solve the ABS issue:

tadaaaam!

And the drive shaft flex disc, because mine was felling its age too.

Some door contact sensor because my windows was playing strange games:

And a set of winter tires, on nice BBS I found in auction:

We also changed the fuel level sensor and a couple of hoses in the fuel system:

Basically the only issue left was the steering rack, but anyway that would be for after winter and ski season!

Because that is also why M3 are for: be used in all circumstances!
