I'll also say this: when I DDed the M3, it felt normal. As in, that's what a car was, and every other car was broken. Now that my brain is acclimated to stock M3/M5 (from the M3 wagon and M5), the M3 feels crazy fast/light/feelsome/grippy/crazy braking every time I drive it. So, not DDing it kind of makes me appreciate it more when I do.

... and appreciate the comfort/quiet of stock when I drive M3 wagon/M5

I enjoy the contrasts!
I can totally relate, the M3 feels like the best thing on earth after DD'ing something else. I definitely appreciate it more. If I were to drive it every day I would get used to it, probably start disliking it because it doesn't fit the characteristics I look for in a daily.

With the purpose of your car changing some, plus having seen the curve Nick was able to get with the 288s, have you considered going to a 288 instead of the 280?

We could overlay his curve with mine, since it will be the same dyno. Then I can ponder.

Road tripping with Sergei, who's having his m5 tuned there. Should be fun!

Please get more rolling video clips of his M5 that I can play loudly and drool.

I'll be doing both a 93 and race fuel tune on the dyno. The 91 and 87 tunes will just be dumbed down for safety tunes, not dyno optimized at all-- I only want them for if I somehow get stuck in a place where I can't get a tank of 93.

My car was detecting knock that didn't exist and pulled timing. Without turning the knock sensors down to an unsafe level (which I'm not willing to do), we weren't able to get it above ~25 (S54's are normally happy ~29). At 25 we got 339rwhp (SAE dynojet) out of it in 80 F ambient.

I replaced the knock sensors Saturday this weekend (with new OE). When I get some spare time, I'm going to plug in my laptop and datalog to see if it addressed the detected knock issue. If it did, back to the dyno with me. If it didn't, will have to dig deeper. But, I'm expecting another 10-20rwhp once I address the timing pulling problem.

The M5 had a better weekend, putting down 404rwhp (SAE dynojet) with one of the best powerbands I've ever seen. That's one of the highest (SAE dynojet) streetable S62's I've seen.

This was not the final tune (should have actual JPGs from the dyno computer later, instead of camera phone pics), just one I took to send to a friend in the middle, but it pretty well illustrates the cammed s62 powerband (which I far prefer to the falling off at high RPM stock powerband):

Airbox is still taking over a bit, but doubt I'll be able to make a video that has more exhaust sound captured than this.

SSV1 stepped headers
SSV1 HJS catted section 1
SS resonated section 2
SS Street muffler
