Great. Now there's more of us, C&R knows it's a problem, and they aren't doing anything about it for their customers. Remember, they strengthened the end tanks from their original design, so this is redesign 2 on these oil coolers.

^^Seems as though C&R is aware and addressing the issue.

Interested to see the updates, as I was planning to get this oil cooler in the near future. Might hold off and see how the new design works out for people or just opt to get the RE cooler.

I guess the lesson learned is no vendor ever tests all of their products...despite consistent claims. There will still be suckers every time. Me included.

Any updates from Bimmerworld on whether or not C&R release the new design for the oil cooler?

I received an email from Phil at bimmerworld this week regarding my leaking c&r/bimmerworld oil cooler. He said they couldn't warranty it because I purchased it 2 years ago, and he mentioned that c&r are "still in the finalization of the revision and are building out a piece to be test-fitted. Once that is complete they will be getting in the process of building them again."

He did offer a discount on a CSF unit but hasn't yet specified how much.

That is disappointing to hear. This has been an issue for quite a while.

Thanks for the update.

Default Has anyone else experienced leaking BW/C&R oil cooler?

No problem.

Anyone have any luck getting their coolers repaired or is replacement with a different/updated unit the only option?

Since receiving my replacement one back, I haven't put it back on the car, as I didn't trust it. Hopefully they will agree to replace it with the new version.....

If the design was faulty (seems clear it was), C&R should replace all oil coolers sold with the updated design. This has nothing to do with a 1 year warranty, it's much more akin to a recall.

Warranties are to address one off build quality issues or unusual failures. Recalls are to address design failures. This is pretty clearly the later.

I couldn't agree more, but apparently they believe they have a strong enough brand/reputation to piss on those customers who bought the Gen 1 cooler (at a premium price).

Personally I'm done with C&R. Unless a miracle happens and they offer the Gen 2as a replacement.
