This is how the under tray looked after a35 mile drive

I have now swapped back to the old OE cooler as I plan on doing a track session this evening. The first since October last year.

If C&R will not replace my cooler (has been on the car for less than a year and less than 5000 miles) with one with their revised design (i was just made aware that they are revising the design), is my cooler repairable?

I'm thinking a pro radiator tech must be able to cut of the tank, weld the tubes and then weld the tank back on?
Or are the tubes not weldable BC of thinness and the use of adhesives?

I can't give you a definitive answer without seeing the cooler up close and knowing who would be doing the repair job. Your best bet would be to take it to a highly skilled radiator repair facility and ask for their advice. Good luck!

Via BimmerWorld C&R let me know that they can't do anything for me as the cooler is 8 months out of the 12 month warranty.

That means they chose to ignore the fact that I installed it 4 months after the purchase and that my car (and the oil cooler) has been sitting on jack stands for 4 months. Not impressed by their customer care!

I guess this is what you get for paying a premium.

Had I had a CSF oil cooler I would have been fine as their warranty is 24 months. And from what I understand it is also a tougher, more robust, design.

It's pretty ironic as i had plans for the C&R water cooler to complement the C&R oil cooler (could have needed a set of higher capacity coolers on the track this evening).

Now it may be a set of CSF coolers, or custom/repaired C&R oil cooler.

As the radiator techs told me this kind of leak demands replacement of the core in order for the repair to be "solid", I have now placed an order for the CSF oil cooler.

Essentially the tube and fin core used by C&R seems to be to flimsy/fragile. So I opted to go for the more sturdy bar and plate core of the CSF cooler.
It also feels good that CSFs warranty is double that of C&R.

Is this the CSF oil radiator you purchased?

Cheaper than the C&R oil and Mishimoto oil coolers.

Default Has anyone else experienced leaking BW/C&R oil cooler?

And today the CSF bar & plate oil cooler arrived.
It's very sturdy, but unfortunately also noticeably heavier. I don't have a scale, but I would guesstimate about 50% heavier.
