Default Throttle Position Sensor: OEM or alternative?

My EML light came on today but car drives fine - looks like my TPS sensor is on its way out. Is the OEM one the best or do alternate brands work better at all?

Looks like 2 per vehicle, the BMW ($105) part is only $25 more than the Hella part (also a brand I would trust)

Look for post with my userid, been a few years, but have part numbers, who made it, etc. Was $6x a couple years ago, still in place.

The OE OEM is AB Elektronic and can be bought from places like RMeuro or FCPeuro, under O.E.M. for much, much cheaper than genuine BMW. Just bought 2 myself, for preventive replacement when I pull the manifold.

For sure, I'm always trying to find the original OEM! These tps have the BMW logo ground off

I remember reading about ground off logos before, but didn't get the point.

Now I get it - OEM parts without the BMW upcharge (or should I say BMW tax LOL).

I've added link to pics of TPS dis-assembly to this link. Just for interest, NOT a suggested fix to repair a TPS!

Great, thanks for the input. Any idea on how the superceded part differs?

No, I don't. BMW does this frequently. Most companies for years left part numbers alone and only changed engineering levels (ECs) for small changes, possibly new vendor supplying, etc. BMW seems to do this via new part numbers.
That is, both parts appear the same, and I'm certain have the same basic design.
Based on what I saw when I took my failed one apart, we can only hope they improved the plating spec on the wiper arms of this varying potentiometer.
