I like that the journals are separate; it makes them much easier to find and browse.

If you put journals in this forum, they'd get lost. The main forum still gets a lot of traffic and sees a lot of new posts.

The journal section sees fewer posts because the owners of the journals post less often. This is natural; you don't mod your car every day. And you don't need your build thread to turn into a daily chat/discussion... there are other forums for that. Also, it won't turn into that, because they'll quickly fall off the front page and get lost and then nobody will see them at all if you don't post an update.

This might be the most I've disagreed with you on any topic. I can't think of even a tiny amount of value added by making that switch. I think that it'd just cause journals to get lost in the shuffle even more, not less, and add nothing to the general E46 section either.

Now... if you could CLONE Journal threads and have them also appear in here, which I'm almost positive you can't easily do in this old vB version (side note: even though there are many good features, DO NOT go to a newer version of vB. Ever. Please for the love of god.), now that would be a good idea. That would get extra eyeballs on journals from people that might not click into that forum, without affecting the ease of browsing just journals that exists in the current structure.

I have to be really bored to remember to go into the journals section. I would be more likely to click on them if they were in this section. With that said, there are good arguments for them being in both places. Perhaps after they are inactive for a good while they could be placed into a separate section similar to the journals section for archive purposes?

Since the majority wants to keep journals separate from the main chassis discussion forums, is it possible to create journal subforums by chassis?

Each day I’ll browse e46 section and then go to journals section. Love being able to find updated journals quickly.
I don’t know but if someone updates their journal, by the time day ends, there is bound to be so many other general posts made making it difficult to find updated journal. I’m happy with how it is currently.

Chrome + Photobucket Hotlink Fix plugin solves the problem.

I know I am late to the party but I wouldn't mind it. I check this section regularly but not so much the journals. Even though there are some fantastic builds sometimes I just forget about that section.

This is a tough one. I do think a lot of cool content and valuable info gets lost for some folks since they don't go to the journals. I'm not sure they'd be "lost" in the main section, it seems like they're already missed/ignored by a significant portion of members. Then again, I do like going to the journal section and seeing familiar threads right on one page.

Maybe just link it up top as a subforum? Like the coding and tuning section? Maybe it will get more attention that way.
I agree, especially with the bold part. I worry about decent journals getting buried.
