I had the EXACT same problem and was forced to go into the dealership for diagnosis and repair.

It can be a number of different things, to name a few, wheel speed sensor, tilt sensor in steering column or DSC module. Pray its not the DSC module, they are expensive.

For me it turned out to be the tilt sensor, which I couldnt change myself bc it needed calibration by a system I didnt have. Im assuming it was a GT1 or AutoLogic system.

Look at these areas. This topic has been discussed many times.

I've searched high and low but haven't found anyone mentioning the error I'm getting.

The shop sounds a bit clueless and says they want to 'check the signals'... God I hate car places. Maybe I should take it to Turner as they seem to know what they're doing

The dealership was able to pull codes that I couldnt see with my Peake code reader that pointed them to the steering angle sensor.

Might be worth it to have BMW diagnose and another shop go in and fix that problem. This way you know you are approaching the right area.

My Peake tool doesn't see any codes, it's the dealership which pulled this one.

However, instead of the 'wheel sensor 1' I was expecting, I get the yaw error which refuses to clear and doesn't allow the steering angle sensor to be recalibrated.

This means the dealer has no clue what the problem is, and will resort to randomly 'checking wires' which sounds like a massive heap of BS to me

Have you read the thread that M3ANMACHINE created? Your problem might be related to his.

Just did, thanks

But my code is for the yaw sensor, which I've already replaced and which was probably fine to begin with.

This is so annoying

Steering angle sensor and a recalibration might be what you need then. Or if you did replace the yaw sensor maybe just a recalibration? Not sure how those sensors work.

The system doesn't allow recalibration, probably due to the ever-present error

I have an appointment next week and I'll post the results. I think I'll need a new DSC module

I had a similar problem... my M3 would run fine and then all of a sudden become sluggish. It turned out to be my throttle position sensor. Later I had my ignition coils replaced too..

Have you try recoding the DSC then calibrate the sensors? Does the new and old p/n match? What's your last 7 vin and the p/n of the new part you put in?
