Hi. I know this is an old thread but did you guys ever solved this problem? I have the same situation for awhile now and I replaced all the wheel speed sensor and 4 wheel bearings.

I had this happen in mine with the occasional limp mode. I had to replace the TPS sensors in the engine bay, not the foot pedal assembly though.

Bump. This just happened to me. Has anyone else had this issue and found a fix?
Thanks!

Edit: Found another thread that gives insight. No need to reply. Thanks

Bumping this old thread for some help.

The op described the same issue I'm having.
Driving along and car and the steering wheel/ car ever so slightly jolts and makes a groan and suddenly moves to the left and both lights come on.

Sometimes it doesn't jolt or make a noise and the lights will come on. Now they've stayed on.

Anyone know?? Before I go replacing the yaw sensor, steering sensor, and wheel speed sensors??

What was your all's ultimate fixes? Sounds like consensus is steering angle sensor or wheel speed sensor.

My indie shop thinks (but is largely guessing) its some yaw angle type sensor under the drivers seat. Is that the steering angle sensor? or something else? I would assume the steering angle sensor being talked about is in the steering system somewhere?

Thanks!

Also would like to know if the yaw sensor and steering angle sensor is the same or different!!

If it happens just driving down the road then the speed sensor aka acceleration sensor is most likely faulty. Located underneath the drivers seat and is very different from the steering angle sensor

Great! This is the information I needed thank you!
I recall somewhere that the later years had a/some different sensors than the earlier years (I have a 02).

I'll need to look into this as well!

Any resolution? Im getting the issue also. I had a full alignment at the BMW dealership, and then went on a long roadtrip. My tire pressure and the DSC lights are on. I was able to clear them, but the lights came back on after I started driving again.

Any thoughts?

Mine has been verified to be the rotation rate sensor by a couple computers.

How were you able to clear yours? Mine cannot be cleared or if they do get
cleared they come back on immediately.

The only time they were clear was when the sensor was intermittently failing. In which case the two lights would sometimes illuminate and after shutting the vehicle off and some time later they'd be gone but randomly come back on along with the car jerking one way.

I'm now on board with this thread with the following symptoms.

-DSC and low tire warning light become illuminated while driving on a straight road with no bumps or steering or pedal inputs, sometimes preceded by a grab of the brakes on one side.

The lights go OFF each time the car is turned off and re-started.

There were no codes the last time the car was hooked up to a BMW scan tool, but the battery had literally just been replaced 2 days previously.

The ABS still functions.

A generic code reader pulls
"DTC A2 ROTATION-RATE SIGNAL
DTC A1 ROTATION-RATE SENSOR"

I've searched a bit about this, even joined the forum for it, but a definitive answer doesn't seem to pop up.

In the meantime, more miles and another scan with a BMW specific tool are pending to help determine what is actually going on. I have not had the chance to do this yet.

I've posted this to help put some information that will be searchable to others in the future. I intend to remedy this problem and post a detailed account of what resolved the problem.
