Default SMG Owners

Sup fellow SMG owners. Which shift mode do you use? I daily drive mine and use S5. When I kick it into auto I leave it in S5 as well. Honestly how could anyone use S1 or S2?

I don't think I have used automatic since a week after I bought the car, but I only use S3 and up. S1 and S2 are just terrible for stop-and-go traffic. I daily drive mine to school now and only see about 2 miles of highway on the way there, so a lot of the time I'm waiting at red lights. By the way, aren't there a ton of threads about this?

I haven't used the auto mode in years.

Driving in towns or on way to work in normal built up areas S4.

Fast main roads S5.

Soon to change when I get CSL SMG software loaded to match full CSL DME conversion :-)

S5 and A5 exclusively.

In my first SMG car I never used, and hated with a passion, the auto mode. The very notion of a hardcore sports coupe like this even offered with an "automatic" mode from the factory infuriated me. A high performance clutch-less manual should only respond to manual inputs from the pilot, I thought.

Now that I'm somewhat older I find that A5 works pretty well for normal city use. Go figure.

S5. Wondering if there's some longevity reason I should be considering S4 though, since others seem to use it? Can't see why someone would choose anything other than 5 (or 6!), unless it was for longevity of parts somehow.

S5/6 can be very clunky when driven somewhat aggressively. S4 lightens that up a little and so it's less annoying, for me, anyways.

But - I prefer the response of S5 so I take the good with the bad

it all depends on my mood, most of the time i drive in manual mode which i have set at s5 , but on occasion i use auto mode i have it in s3...obviously if im being lazy to put in auto mode, s3 is just right and i dont need long fast shifts

S3 works great for me unless I get into "serious mode" - then I will use S5 - I won't go to S6 until I am confident in the car and have done enough maintenance to know where it is at (only had it a month).

My 20 miles commute is all highway, usually stop and go traffic or barely above the speed limit of 55 MPH. For these rides I keep Auto in S2 or S3. When I slap it over to manual mode it's in S4. Spirited drives on twisty roads is S4 or S5. Track is S6.
