On the diff though, they refused to cover it under warranty because there was no record of the prior owner doing the 1,200 mile service. (Car has 13k, still in warranty). So I had to pay $265 to have the diff fluid changed out. Not sure I understand how not having them do a free diff fluid change at 1200 means I don't get it now, but they wouldn't budge. Oh well, diff grind appears to be gone. The whole car seems to run smoother, but I could be imagining it.

They also said, since the 1200 was never done, I should do a transmission fluid change as well, on my dime...
Have an 06' ZCP/SMG with 17K mls. Warranty expired. Took it to the dealership, ran history and no 1200 mls service done on it. They called BMWNA for authorization and they approved the 1200 mls service for free.

Last ditch effort is to take the vin to BMWNA and have them look it up. If they say there was no 1200 mile service, it was never done.
