I probably should have said 500, not 5k. 10k is still a lot in comparison to some other limited edition cars. In my parking lot at work there's 3 E90's (if I take it in), 2 E92's (1 of is the Lime Rock edition), an M5, and an M6. By comparison the original M Coupe had ~2100 in S52 flavor (I had one), and ~700 in S54. Ferrari's make < 1000 per model typically last time I checked. Could also just be that being in SoCal M3's are pretty common here.

Um, actually there were about that many. Exactly 5,867 E90 M3s were imported to USA/Canada during its lifetime. 3135 6MTs and 2732 DCTs (although the ratio of DCT to 6MT went way up in the later model years, i.e. it was 2080 6MT to 200 DCT for pre-LCI E90 then 1055 6MT to 2532 DCT for LCI E90s).

I found out why my hunt for a 2011 6MT E90 with no sunroof was SO hard -- there were only ~180 2011/6MT/no-sunroof E90s imported to the USA.

The big drop will occur when the new M3 starts getting sold in real volume-- 6-12 months after the new car comes out.

Significantly price drop mileages are 50,000 miles and 100,000 miles.

I would guess that it'll be harder to find a specific spec e90 than e92, but I doubt it will carry a significant premium. I would think within 5 years the e93 will be worth significantly less than either.

I'd also bet that 6mt cars will end up more valuable than DCT cars. Once every performance car is faster than the e9X M3, which happens to all cars with the passage of time, the relevance of "faster" to DCT decreases and the driving experience becomes more important.
