Spoke too soon. Went to start it today and the battery was dead. I guess my short weekly drives were not enough to keep it charged. Whoops! Nothing the trickle charger can't fix

03.5 with about 72k on it, owned a little over a year now. It has been very reliable in my short ownership, the only issue I've had so far is a bad TPS.

Like others have said though, reliable is a relative term, since you will spend $$$ doing maintenance on the 9 million "common wear and tear" items on this car.

Has left me stranded 2 times. Both times were bad coils that I should have changed at 100k. First time was at 101k and the second at 101.5k. What did I learn?

Maintain at the recommended intervals!

Im overdue for cooling system, debating whether to do it or just wait for it to die.

If the pump goes it could shread your belts, shroud, and may send the fan blades through your hood. never wait for a bmw cooling system to fail.

Just bought 2002 Vert manual

Had PPI done and it revealed the following work being needed
and PO reduced price of car by this repair amount.

Diff output shaft seal leaking
Rear trailing arm bushing split and completely loose
engine oil leaking replace constant pressure oil valve
Vanos solenoid replaced
all cost about $3K at Dealership

all done at 63,000 miles by PO just before buying it.

So I guess not to reliable by comparison to others posted here. But I hope
for good things going forward.
