Default Hey guys please help-Rear View mirror question

Hi guys,

I replaced my original leaking rear view mirror with a OEM e46 regular non dimming.

Ever since I replaced them I have a service engine light bc the rain sensor is not connected. Is there any way I can not having service engine light on?

thanks...

I don't think rain sensor triggers CEL. Did you scan the codes?

Then your mechanic is wrong. Check engine light is from something else, the rain sensor module does not trigger a check engine light or service engine soon light and the dash. It will show up as a diagnostic error if you scan the zke or gm5 module.

the next obvious thing is why is your rain sensor unplugged just because you're running the non m mirror. All of the mirrors regardless of Auto dimming or dimming or M3 or non-m still attached to the mirror in the same fashion and the rain sensor has nothing to do with the mirror. you should just be plugging in the plug for the rain sensor and putting the cover back over it or leaving the cover off if you want.

get a real scan tool or get somebody else to scan your check engine light and either get a printout or a screenshot or a picture with your cell phone of the actual error.

Come on man, why in the world ENGINE warning light would light up for rain sensor.

Autozone scans CEL for free.

If you ask them to scan the code, they'll actually use a full function scanner on your car for free

I guess it depends on the autozone. The ones in my area gave me a $15 scanner that I could of just bought from Walmart.

I just bought myself a scanner. Saves me gas money and time to go there. One round trip to go to Autozone would cost me $6 or more worth of gas. To me it wasn't logical to go after my first failed visit where the scanner didn't read anything.

Their generic scanner would pick up general codes like misfires. But nothing too specific. These finer codes can be read from BMW programs like GT1/INPA.
