I took off my chefs jacket, soaked it in canola oil and put it on the grill. It did exactly as you expected it would.

I told you not to take that job working for Zo.

I like the flaming chefs coat. Seems appropriate.

I had a cook pull a knife after I let him go. I had to fire him because he kept bringing his gun to work and he kept it next to his cutting board. He also had a drinking problem. That was a fun night.

Oh man this one was good:
I spoke with my manager in a 1 on 1 conversation. I spent a few minutes explaining to him that I had accepted a new job somewhere else and want to explore new opportunities.

I then dastardly crafted an email and alerted my immediate team that I was leaving.

Finally, in my last days, I held hand-off meetings and left everything in a neat, tidy, diabolical bundle.

Showed them good.

Was sold a bill of goods on a contract-to-hire gig for a large NGO that works with money. I accepted the role, my employer countered, NGO hiring lady said I should never take any counter offer, as those folks are the first to get fired later, etc. I agreed and declined their counter.

Fast forward three months, the NGO job turned out to be heavily "silo'd" with zero chance for upward movement. My old employer called me with an opening for a really great position, and I decided to move back.

NGO hiring lady countered with a fat raise, but I politely reminded her of what I'd been told re: counteroffers. She was not happy, said something really sweary and curt ("so I guess you've made your f*cking decision"), then hung up on me. Always like to keep those bridges unburnt
