It seems perfect to the naked eye. You can only know for sure if you do the pressure decay test. If your pressure holds longer that 15 minutes then you have a good system. If your motor is priming every 4 minutes then you have an internal leak. You wont get a cog light you wont feel the difference; but your electric pump motor is prematurely wearing while your car drives fine. I had a member of the forum do a pressure decay test just to verify his pump repair is in good standing and his pressure is holding for over 19 minutes in between primes.

I hope someone can help me. So once a month my COG light will come on and will stay on for a day or two then turn off on its own. What is weird is that the car drives fine, shifts normal and I have absolutely no issues while its cog light is on.
My question is, does anyone know why the light would come on but car drive normal?
I want to get his figured out before I end up stuck on the side of the road. Thanks in advance for any help.

The best thing to do is to get the codes read. Prevent it from getting worse if you can get it fixed at it's earlier stages.

I came across some information on the hydraulic pump actuation, pressure sensor, SMG service functions, longitudinal and lateral acceleration sensors and Clutch position sensor(PLCD)

FYI- These two links do not work.

6. Replace electric motor. This is the main component of the smg in my opinion. Since dead motor means no pressure. Motors can last up to 100k+ mi. If they die before that; that is because your accumulator or internal leak caused it to run more often than it should and results in worn commutator. You can remove the outside metal cover and vacuum the carbon dust every year or every other year and inspect the commutator and brushes.
New motor $300-$500 (might be cheaper to get it rebuilt)

7. Hydraulic pressure sensor. (see smg wki for more details) A failed pressure sensor will contribute to erratic pump operation so test this every 2 years or replace it since it is only $89.

I was looking at the the GOOD_M3 2.0 E46 M3 Build/Journal
and in one of the images it looks like the pressure sensor next to the temp sensor has 3 wires. Is this the pressure sensor or some other sensor? I'm curious because I thought the pressure sensors are a two wire sensor. Maybe newer model?
