Default **YCW 3rd GEN CF D/S NEW IMPROVED VERSION COMING TO MARKET**

**UPDATE**

So, our beta tester (MisterEM) has finished w/the install and testing of the d/s and everything appears to be working perfectly! The E9X beta tester reported a similar experience w/the d/s making the car feel more lively and direct! They also said that the car feels like it revs up a little faster...same things that I experienced w/the 1st Gen version. I still feel that even though it's a pricey upgrade for the car, that it's a fantastic mod for the way that it transforms the driving experience! Here's a pic of the install on MisterEM's car.

I would expect an update either from myself or from Michael very soon as to the official Group Buy/On Sale Date!

Fantastic! I assume additional info (weight vs OE, warranty, etc) will be given when the GB opens. Can't wait!

Weight is virtually the same as the Gen I/II version. Itís about 8-9lbs lighter than the OE d/s, and makes a noticeable difference in throttle response and how the engine revs. Yeah, I would imagine that Michael will include some warranty info in the official GB

Good to see another option hit the market! Was a long road to get here, but it looks like a very solid design. Carbon driveshafts are amazing and really transform the experience. Looking forward to the full review!

The Groupbuy brought me here - Would like to see an official response to the below

I only worked on the project for one year and we were also making our own tubes which is no doubt played a large factor in the failures.

Is YCW able to comment on the design life of these D/S? What was their design goal for these? Same or better than stock? What was the factor of safety?

Please don't take these questions as doubt, they are only coming from a place of genuine curiosity. Thank you for supporting our old platforms!

The carbon tubes that we use are made the same (and by the same engineer, using the same equipment) as the previous generation driveshafts which have been on cars for 2+ years now with no issue regarding the carbon tubes themselves (the bonding holding the flanges on is another matter)

They were ultimately designed for weight reduction, however, being made from dry carbon, they also have a much higher rotational stress threshold over the oem steel driveshafts and, if they were to break, they won't cause collateral damage.

Just want to say great job to the guys (stash and others) who are still able to get these improvements made/manufactured, giving us more and more quality options, for our aging "classics"!
