I agree, that is what I will do, as I am thinking the M2 could make a good replacement for the e46 M3.

Here are a couple of things to consider.

M2 will depreciate $10-$20k over a average ownership of 3-4 years. It will not be limited production like the 1M and a more normal depreciation, like the M3/4, should be expected. In comparison the e46 M3 will only go up in value, or at the very least stay were it is at. Not sure what condition/mileage your car is, but that is a big plus for me on the e46 M3. I already have two other cars (DD's) that depreciate, don't really need a third one.

M2 will have massive amounts of torque in comparison. For me the #1 downside on the e46M3. I got spoiled with newer models and miss the torque when driving the e46.

I think the e46 M3 has timeless looks and is arguably the best looking M3. M2 is aggressive looking, but not pretty at all...

...just my

Go wash your E46 and try not to fall in love with it again...

I wouldn't sell

The pros and cons have been discussed twice on the forum now if you look for the threads.

You're on a pretty biased forum and you have a ZCP so it's hard to say SELL NOW

But I bet the M2 is going to be a riot and have all the latest and greatest tech. To me it appears to be a nice e46 M successor.

Would I sell the E46 for an M2? No. Am I considering the M2 as a replacement for my daily? Yes.

The engine will disappoint you if you like the strung out N/A feel of the s54... but I'm sure you'll have fun in it and it would absolutely be a better daily driver. Buy an M2 but keep the e46.
